As Canada’s original catch and release lodge, Nueltin Fly-In Lodges has long been a world leader in sustainable sports angling resource management. Our commitment to conservation started when the lodge was established and continues today. Our strict release policy started in the late 1970s and has proven its value. We were also the first to implement a barbless hook policy and later a single barbless hook per lure policy. This policy increases the survival rate and maintains superior genetics that trophy fish posses. Similar hook policies have since been implemented in the province of Manitoba and are gaining popularity.
In the late 1980s we shortened our already short season. This keeps angling pressure off the resource during vital spawning times. While this costs our small company short-term revenues, the long-term dividends of healthier fish and happier customers make it worthwhile.
